Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Gophers will make their 2nd appearance in the Old Spice Classic in 2011. Currently 7 teams have been announced, with an 8th coming later.

Arizona State
Dayton
DePaul
Fairfield
Minnesota
Texas Tech
Wake Forest

The last time (2006) the Gophers were there they lost to Marist, Southern Illinois, and Montana and the finishes were 1. Arkansas, 2. West Virginia, 3. Marist, 4. Western Michigan, 5. Southern Illinois, 6. Virginia Tech, 7. Montana, 8. Minnesota. Dan Monson resigned a couple days after the tournament.

Arizona State could be interesting with Trent Lockett and Chanse Creekmur on their roster.

I hope the Dayton Flyers band and director make the trip - always entertaining!

Where's that photoshopped picture of Trevor as the Old Spice Guy?

I've already started working on the wife to attend this one next year. :)

All you need to do Blizz, is everything the wife asks or tells you to do for a year and you will be in business!!!! :)

Besides Wake that field is meh. Of course I went to DePaul so I'm interested in them but we should win that tourney next year

Agree that at this point it looks like a so-so field. I know they're young, but Wake has been terrible so far this season.

Guessing they're trying to get a top team for #8, hopefully they get one.

Well, if 22 years of marriage is an indicator we should probably make other plans. :)

I have already weighed the cost of saying I'm going either way but I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay the price.

I hear ya, man. Before I divorced, almost everything I suggested doing usually got out-voted 1-1.

Tell me boudit. Locket was outstanding in ASUs opener at the Pit in Albuquerque:
"Trent Lockett Named Athlete of the WeekASU men's basketball played its first game at New Mexico on Tuesday and Trent Lockett led the way in a tough season opener. Lockett, a sophomore from Golden Valley Minn., is the Sun Devil student Athlete of the Week ending November 16. Against New Mexico, he led all scorers with a career-high 22 points on a 9 -of-12 shooting and contributed to team-high eight rebounds.

In his freshman season, Lockett was named to the five-man Pac-10 Freshman team. A lot is expected out of Lockett this year and with the kind of performance he had, Lockett will live up to the expectations.

Chanse is coming off the bench as a 6th/7th man to start his freshman year and I anticipate that he will take over senior Rick Kuksik's role as the Devils designated shooter.

I am also working on being there next year and my wife is fairly agreeable to it.

As someone who wears Old Spice, I'll see if I can get an "in" with the decision makers- I'll let them know that I would prefer an upper tier Big East team. Let the battle for conf. bragging rights begin!

The bigger "name" tournaments tend to want to invite one school from each of the BCS conferences - based on that, I'd guess they would want to fill the last spot with a team from the SEC.

fine, but I would like the gophs to go up against a.... Georgetown!
