Take this for what it's worth.

22 of the Gophers' 32 games were played vs. teams that ended up in the postseason (insert CBI and/or CIT joke here). And of their 13 nonconference opponents, 8 will play in the postseason.

Tennessee State (CIT)
Richmond (CBI)
Duke (NCAA)
Memphis (NCAA)
Stanford (NIT)
Florida State (NIT)
South Dakota State (NCAA)
North Dakota State (CBI)

Illinois x 3 (NCAA)
Indiana x 2 (NCAA)
Iowa x 2 (NIT)
Michigan (NCAA)
Michigan State x 2 (NCAA)
Ohio State (NCAA)
Purdue (CBI)
Wisconsin x 2 (NCAA)

Record vs. NCAA Qualifiers: 6-8 (Tubby's best mark at Minnesota was 7-9 in 2008-09; he can equal that with Round of 32 appearance)
Record vs. NIT Qualifiers: 3-1
Record vs. CBI Qualifiers: 2-1
Record vs. CIT Qualifiers: 1-0

For comparison's sake, in his first six seasons at Minnesota Tubby is 29-53 (35.4%) vs. NCAA qualiifers (0-2 in NCAA tourney), with this season's NCAA tourney results pending. In Dan Monson's first six seasons at Minnesota, he was 16-55 (22.5%) vs. NCAA qualiifers (0-1 in NCAA tourney). Interestingly, Monson's best season vs. NCAA qualifiers (5-7) came in 2005-06, the season after the Gophers made their only NCAA tourney appearance under Monson.

Interesting stuff, thanks for looking that up. It's not a secret, one of the biggest disappointments about this season has been who some of the losses have been against.

It's interesting to think about also, at this point in the season, would you rather have beaten Indiana, Michigan St., and Wisconsin but lose to Northwestern, Nebraska, and Purdue or beaten NW, NE, and Purdue but lost to Indiana, Michigan St., and Wisconsin?

There are teams out there that beat everyone they should but hardly ever upset anyone also. Then there are teams like MN and Illinois who upset some teams yet also lose to some teams they shouldn't. What's better for the tourney? I'm not sure.
