The University of Minnesota men's basketball program will appear on the BTN a total of 16 times during the Big Ten Conference season, the network announced today. In all, BTN will televise 67 men’s conference basketball matchups, including four Big Ten Tournament games and an additional number of non-conference games.

Minnesota will open the conference season with a pair of home games for the second-consecutive season – Jan. 2 against the national runner-up Michigan Wolverines and a Jan. 5 game against Purdue, both on BTN. The Gophers’ other home games on the network will be against Wisconsin (Jan. 22), Northwestern (Feb. 1), Indiana (Feb. 8), Illinois (Feb. 19) and Iowa (Feb. 25). In addition, the Minnesota /Penn State matchup (March 8 or 9) at The Barn may also be televised by the BTN.

Minnesota’s road conference games on BTN will be at Penn State (Jan. 8), at Michigan State (Jan. 11), at Iowa (Jan. 19), at Nebraska (Jan. 26), at Purdue (Feb. 5), at Northwestern (Feb. 16), at Ohio State (Feb. 22) and at Michigan (March 1).

Go Gophers!!

Have we heard anything yet on which non conference games will be on BTN?

The non-conference schedule looks slightly less awful than prior years for TV purposes. Two on ESPN3 and one! on BTNDN. The game at Richmond is TBD. Most Richmond/VCU games are on local TV in Richmond, so that may be tricky to get in MN.

Under the A-10's deal with NBC, the NBC Sports Network will televise 25 regular-season basketball men’s games and the quarterfinals of each Atlantic 10 Tournament through 2021. Would think there's a decent chance Gophers/Richmond will be one of those 25. Not very often does the A-10 get a Big Ten opponent in its own arena, so it figures to be one of NBC's more "desirable" nonconference A-10 TV opportunities. Not sure, but I think NBC has yet to release its 2013-14 TV slate.

The Gophers/Spiders game is on a Saturday, and NBCSports as several football obligations, but the game time it TBA so maybe they will find a window to show the game.

At least this year the Gophers have about the same number of early games that will be streamed as does Mich and Indiana. Last year we had about 7 games streamed and Indiana only had 3 or so. The Big Ten Network seems to have equalized things a bit this year, which is good. Haven't taken the time to check other BT TV schedules.

Nothing wrong with kickin' it old school once in awhile. Will look forward to listening to the game on the radio.
