Big Ten Rankings:
Scoring offense: 5th
Scoring defense: Dead last
Scoring margin: Dead last
FT Percentage: Dead last
FG Percentage: 6th
FG Percentage Defense: 10th
3PT FG Percentage: 6th
3PT FG Defense: Dead last

I know it's early, but this isn't good...

I haven't anlayzed other schedules, but we've only had one true cupcake (NDSU) and even they were decent. I'd say we've had one of toughest schedules to this point and this will even out a bit.

Scoring defense doesn't matter at all, especially with the Gophers playing at the second fastest pace in the Big Ten. Scoring margin is reflective of the opponents so far. Defense FG% and FT% need to improve, but I have a feeling they will with cupcake city the next few weeks.

Gophers have by far the toughest schedule so far in the Big 10. They are 21 in the country,
MSU= 35
Ill=99
OSU=125
UM= 144
PSU=177
WI=178
IA=193
PU=250
NU= 307
IN= 315

You play tough opponents, you don't run up scores, and you don't get pretty stats.
I'll focus on the 6-1 record with the toughest non-con schedule. I'd say things are going pretty well so far.

Tubby will clean most of these up. The big issue that is a recurring theme with Tubby is lousy 3 point FG percentage. Last year in the Big Ten season we were one of the worst if not the worst by the stats. We encourage teams to shoot open threes and they do it very well against us during Tubby's tenure. He's a great coach but that's an area of weakness or so it seems.

it's pointless ranking the big ten in these areas until conference play starts. we've had a really tough schedule compared to some teams.

Gophers are 6-1 versus a pretty decent schedule, including 3 or 4 teams that can make NCAA.

Some "fans" here are really incredible. And NOT in a good way AT ALL.

Wow. Another miserable SOB, I guess.

Or, wait, a guy who looked up some facts?

If all of the "fans" "NOT in a good way" stop supporting the Gophers as some would seem to like, the men will be playing in front of approx. the number that are watching the women these days. Some people worry. That doesn't make them morally inferior or unworthy to be quote unquote fans or better yet of being just plain fans without the quotes.

58

The stat I find disturbing is 58 points given up in a half, at home.

Now THAT is disturbing.

:(

The only stat I care about "right now" is the FT%. We will be sorry if the % doesn't get better.

Wrong guys at the line.

Surprisingly, these numbers are better than I expected. Unfortunately we get the wrong guys at the line. We need Blake at the line, not Trevor.

Blake 13 attempts 84%
Trevor 51 attempts 58%
Al 39 attempts 66%
Sampson 31 attempts 71%
Colt 23 attempts 60%
RW 16 attempts 62%

The team is shooting 63%

These six with the most attempts are shooting 65%

Unfortunately Blake does not get to the line as often as Westy did.

Perhaps the biggest problem in our loss was the number times we missed the front end of a one and one.

Trevor is gonna get to the line a ton, just too physical and guys have no choice but to hack him. I'd like to see him at least in the upper 60s, that would be nice. Make 2/3.

It would have at least made it easier to close the gap near the end of the game. At one point we were within 3 and if we had been hitting our freethrows we may have even gotten the lead again.

Blake will really only get to the line from getting fouled at the end of the game. That's where most of his attempts are. I still think that Trevor is not as bad of a ft shooter as his stats indicate so far. I think he's over 65 percent by the end of the year. I think Al will raise his a little too. Then again, i wouldn't be that surprised to see Sampson Colt, and Rodney drop a little. Our fts are definitely hurting us, but as I've said before, I'd rather have a poor ft shooting team that draws a ton of fouls than a great ft shooting team that rarely draws fouls.

FOT

RARELY will NBA teams W if they give up 58 points in a half. College teams simply WON'T win if they do that.

FOT,

As the master of all Tubby stats I have to ask you if any Tubby coached team has given up 58 in a half before?

Exactly! If I remember correctly, we missed all of our one and ones. That is six possible points right there where we ended-up with zero.
