Gophers suspend Kirksey, Carter and Hageman

Those are three tough losses. Hard to lose three card carrying members of the bigger, faster, stronger defense and not see a drop off.

The kids don't care anymore. No Pride.

Can we get refunds on the scholarship money?

What did Kirksey do? I really thought Carter could be a All Big Ten CB but he has really disapointed, his uncle needs to get in his ear and get him back on track.

These guys probably got suspended on purpose so they do not have to subject themselves to the humiliation they experience every Sat.

Hopefully Hageman didn't resort to the antics that got him suspended in high school....

If you read the Press Conference notes, it said that Hageman and Carter are basically on academic suspension, and probably won't play the rest of the year to make sure they pass their classes.....

But then you probably knew that Art when you threw out your garbage....

And thus starts another pi$$ing contest.

Maybe we should all be Viking fans, seems nice and orderly over there.

Thank God I don't live in Minnesota right now! I'm not limited to cheering for the Gophers and Vikings. I have the Carolina Panthers...Good Grief, Charlie Brown!!!

Doogie can confirm this because I had the TV on in the background and just caught bits of the report, but Joe Schmit said that Kirksey basically went on a tirade in the lockerroom after OSU.

Hmmm. A guy is sick and tired of getting beat and takes out some frustration and you suspend him? That's what you want your team leaders to do. Not to start a big tinkling contest, but I'd be willing to bet if Adam Weber had behaved in a similar manner, he'd still be starting.

Something About the Situation Really Stinks?

We are, without a doubt, the most wretched, pathetic, stupid, asinine, ridiculous, and laughable bunch of losers ever to play college football. :banghead:

I thought I saw Kirksey and one other player go right into the tunnel after the game, they didn't stick around for Hail! Minnesota, but neither did 95% of everyone else either.

I believe Carter will get straightenned out and ultimately do very well for us. Not making excuses for them but they are 19 years old now. Now we see why most successful programs play Juniors and Seniors every year and many of those are with an extra redshirt year. It was the maturity of Marcus Sherells and his fellow seniors last year that willed us to a Bowl Game. Talent is not enough in Big Time Big Ten Football.

WOW, back away from the cliff man. There is always next year. REALLY!

I suppose that is suspendable conduct from a Captain...in a year where the HC was fired midseason and the newest coach to the staff is given the reins as interim HC...and the team has not won since week one...and conference opponents intentionally run up the score on you...etc.

I'm not cutting Kirksey any slack, but as frustrated as we are, could you imagine how frustrated and embarrased some of these guys are. He obviously shouldn't have gone on that tirade, but i'd rather have that than someone who doesn't care (I saw a few players joking around on the sideline last saturday).

This coaching staffs committment to losing is astounding. Someone finally shows some fight and they suspend him.
Wouldn't want to ruin the streak they've got going.

I saw more than a few (on the jumbotron) laughing during the National Anthem. Great kids we got here.

I saw that too and just shook my head, there is our lack of discipline.

Brandon threw and broke his helmet right after the game ended. Then, he walked into the tunnel without shaking hands or waiting until the school song ended. I don't know what happened in the lockeroom, but he was not in a good place (and it's hard to blame him). I would expect more from a captain, but I would also expect coaches to know that this type of emotional unfolding is not only predictable, it will actually get worse in the next three weeks. I feel bad for the freshmen and redshirt freshmen who will get thrown to the wolves over the next three weeks. At this point, some kids might not mind losing a redshirt...at least they can transfer and still use the mandatory year out as a redshirt year.

Firing Brew was necessary, but firing him mid-season may lose them as much with the players as it gains them in the search for a coach. Maturi better pull a rabbit out of a hat on this one, or this mid-year cluster amounts to no more than fluffy icing on a cake made of sh*t.

Exactly... threw his helmet, and melted down is how one person who was present put it to me. Also apparently left the field a before he was supposed to.

Actually, there are a lot of great kids on this team. I don't know all of them, but I know enough to say that for certain. They have worked very hard in the off season and during the season, and this is what they have to show for it. It must be very frustrating for them. You can't blame some of them for trying to find some humor in their situation. Who knows, they could have been laughing at anything - maybe the coaches.
