Gophers open -17 vs. UNLV, per betonline.com

that seems like a good opening line for the game. it will be interesting to see how much the line moves between now and then.

the bank will be rocking.

This game went to 3 OTs last year. Take the Rebels and 17.

Not a a smart way to make a bet for so many reasons. Las Vegas doesn't care though because they always get their share.

How many home games have the Gophers won by 17+ since Mason was here? 1 or 2?

Too many variables to put action on this game. New coordinator(s) for UNLV, could result in the Rebels being a little disorganized, but could make preparation a little difficult as well. I remember a few years ago when UNLV played Wisconsin and the Rebels played Wisky tough, largely because they came out with completely different schemes than what the Badgers had prepared for.

I don't think I would touch this one...

I assume you mean post-Mason?
The answer is 3, but there was one 16 point win too (Purdue last year - which felt like more of a blowout than it ended up being).

Give the 17 and take the over. Blowout city.

It should be around -21 in TCF. Sorry but we will kill them!

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I see a blowout. Honestly, it is really a toss up (the 17 point spread) but I look at the team on paper, along with Kill's third team, and I think that we will be a fairly good team this year. That means that we will stay competitive with most Big Ten teams and beat on some non-con foes.

Given our lack of explosiveness on offense and generally conservative playcalling, I don't see a lot of blowouts this year.

-17 sounds about right, but if I was a betting person I'd take the odds that it's closer than that, rather than banking that we run up the score beyond a 3 TD lead.

Does anyone remember the spread from the game at UNLV? Was it around -20?

I don't remember for sure, but I want to say it was -6, because I think my buddy was mad that they went for the field goal at the end of the game instead of taking a shot at the end zone. Could be wrong. I just seem to recall -1TD ish range.
