The Gophers will host Toledo on Nov. 12 in a preliminary game of the Battle 4 Atlantis. Toledo was selected for the postseason College Insiders Tournament (CIT) last season but currently is ineligible for the NCAA (and presumably the MAC) Tournament due to APR shortcomings. The school is appealing the ruling.

That leaves one Gopher nonconference game still TBD. Still no word on whether it'll be a marquee home/neutral-site opponent.

Final 2011-12 RPI is noted in parentheses.

With B4A running 3 consecutive nights, we might be happy that we have a deep crew for numerous 5-for-5 patterns of substituting???

Especially after we get by Duke in the first round..

I agree, it's nice to know you have 11-13 guys that you feel can contribute in some form! The real test will be @ FSU. After three tough games in the Bahamas, it'll be interesting to see what kind of energy the team has for that one

How the Gophers will be viewed (locally and nationally) pre-B1G season will be determined by how they perform in these 5 games. This assumes there are no more "marquee" NC games on the schedule.

1. vs. Duke
2. vs. Memphis/VCU
3. vs. Louisville/Missouri/Northern Iowa/Stanford
4. @ Florida State
5. @ USC

Win 0 or 1 of the 5 and there will be serious heat on Tubby and the team as they enter conference play.

Win 2 would be a disappointment but not a killer in terms of at-large chances.

Win 3 should be expected as about the status quo, and I think would put the Gophers on excellent at-large footing heading into B1G play.

Win 4 would be fantastic, as it would take another epic downslide during the B1G season (see 2010-11, after beating UNC & WV) not to make the NCAA Tournament.

Win all 5 and I think you'll see the Gophers in the Top 10 heading into January, and thoughts of a B1G championship become realistic, not just talk.

Selection,

Would you please remind us how this compares with previous years' Avg. RPI?

Thanks!

Last year the preseason average RPI for Gopher nonconference opponents was 162.181, which ranked #4 in the B1G.

However ,what it actually ended up was 181.461, #9 in the B1G, ahead of only Indiana, Nebraska and Iowa. The Gophers ended up playing only 1 NCAA qualifier (South Dakota State) during the OOC portion of their schedule. Every other B1G team played at least 2.

I think it's quite safe to assume the Gophers will end up with more than 1 OOC NCAA qualifier in 2012-13.

Looks like Tennessee State is the last game.
