There are only five FBS programs that have a chance to keep the same nine assistant coaches for at least three years in a row if there are no changes for the remainder of this offseason.

Minnesota: Matt Limegrover (offensive coordinator / offensive line), Tracy Claeys (defensive coordinator), Jim Zebrowski (quarterbacks), Brian Anderson (running backs), Pat Poore (wide receivers), Rob Reeves (H-backs / tight ends), Jeff Phelps (defensive line), Bill Miller (linebackers / assistant head coach), Jay Sawvel (defensive backs)

Go Gophers!!

Stat is a little surprising although when you consider coaching tends to be a field where the only way to move up is to move to a different school I guess it is not all that shocking that very few schools are able to retain their entire staff year in and year out. Would be interesting to know if any of these coaches are turning down better opportunities to stay with Kill.

The most interesting/surprising thing about that list is of the 5 schools 4 of them are in the Big Ten. I have said all along I am interested to see how things go with Kill's assistants now that they are finally in a location where they will get noticed if they show they can cut it. Will they stay loyal to Kill if/when someone offers them a promotion or significantly more money?

Kill said last year that 2-3 guys had chances to move on and turned them down. Doogie has reported that Claeys turned down a job in the NFL last off-season. This is great for the Gophers. If the Gophers have that breakthrough season, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Chip Kelly going to the Eagles?

And then there were 4.....all in the B1G (and all in the Legends division). That's pretty crazy, and also sucks for us when it comes to trying to make hay in this division.

At one of the Buttonhook Socials Kill said someone (he mentioned them by name, I believe it was Sawvel if I remember right but I can't remember for sure) had a chance to get a higher paying position at Tennessee and turned it down. Turned out ok since he'd more likely than not be looking for work now with the coaching change.

If/when one of the assistants leave I think they'll be ok. Kill likes consistency, so I believe he's the type of guy who would hire someone with the same philosophies as the outgoing person and have them start with the same playbooks. Not the seemingly random changes made under the last regime.
