Gophers officially in the hunt for Blue Earth OL Persig

Glad to hear it! Hopefully Jonah chooses the gophs!!

Maybe he's been knocking heads in some local camps and that's why he has the offers he does.

Sounds like his sister goes to Wisconsin, but his parents are big Gopher fans. INSANITY!!!!!

Looks like another plowhorse for the Badgers. Maybe he comes to MN, but how many players have had offers from Wisconsin and Iowa and decided to come to MN? Not bashing, just wondering.

In his interview, it sounded like he was waiting for the Gopher offer. Every kid is a different case. Jerry Kill is a new regime and I will not compare past recruiting results with him until he actually has a year to get recruiting results. I think we have a pretty good shot.

I don't know why I'm responding to your obvious (and pathetic) attempt at trolling, but since you asked...

In the Rivals era (since 2002), there have been six recruits in the state of Minnesota who held offers from all three schools:

L. Edwards - Minnesota
B. Allen - Wisconsin
R. Hageman - Minnesota
S. Maresh - Minnesota
D. Gilreath - Wisconsin
R. Eubanks - Iowa

Since we're batting .500 (and .750 post-Mason), I think we're doing just fine, especially considering the current state of the rivalries. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Thank you Dpodoll. Gopherbadger man is a constant roadblock to rational thinking around here.

For a second there, I thought you meant Bryant Allen and was going to correct you but I now realize it is Beau Allen. Of course, Bryant Allen held offers from all three schools as well and chose Minnesota. As did Brandon Green and I'm sure a few more.

You did not at all, thank you I did not know that.

How is that? Because I asked a honest question?

I even posted my question was not a rip on the program, I just did not know. Now I do. Thank you Kill picture guy for the research.

Well if we just go from last year's class...

LaMonte Edwards, Marquise Hill (granted he ended up at Juco but in your words he "decided" on MN) and Tom Parish had offers from all 3 and chose Minnesota.

Jimmy Gjere and Devon Wright had a Wisconsin (no Iowa) offer but ended up at Minnesota.

James Manuel had an offer from Iowa (no Wisconsin) but ended up at Minnesota.

That is 5 that chose Minnesota over a Wisconsin offer and 4 that chose Minnesota over an Iowa offer in one class.

Because your first statement was a pronouncement that this kid was instantly going to Wisconsin. Just spouting off without even thinking about it, then asking a leading question you THOUGHT would back up your position. However, once Dp did the actual research your statement blew up in your face.

Don't worry about it, gbm - somebody woke up on the wrong side of his period this morning. Not your fault.

No I did not, but thatks for twisting what I said. I said he looks like a plowhorse for Wisconsin, not hes going to Wisconsin. If you had to bet would you bet he comes to MN over Wisconsin or Iowa?

I have no idea where a 17 year-old from Blue Earth, MN is going to go to college, let alone the ability to offer an educated guess, therefore I would make no bet.

no chance parish had offers from all 3

Word on the street (we only have one street here) is that the red scum are the favorites for right now. I don't intend to pump up someone who came on here with a childish post (and is now backtracking) but that is the scuttlebutt for now. It's still early though, and I think the more he sees of Kill the more he will like him, which seems to be the case for everybody's interactions with the man.

He had offers from all 3.

Minnesota and Iowa offered first. His sister was attending Minnesota and he had ties to the Brewster staff so he came down and visited the next weekened and he committed. After he accepted the Minnesota offer, Wisconsin offered (they often wait to offer WI recruits until summer camps or other teams offer) verbally with the caveat that it would become a written offer if he decommitted from MN to commit to Wisconsin. He said no and stuck with Minnesota. The Wisconsin Rivals site denied it was ever an offer because it never became a written offer--which isn't the standard for posting an offer on the site. That is the only reason it shows Minnesota and Iowa offers but no Wisconsin offer. Rest assured, he had offers from all 3.

I assume you are talking about myself...how am I backtracking? Please let me know. And yes you are correct, he Wisky is the favorite now, but it is a long way from over. I personally think Kill seems like a good hire, and wish nothing but the best for him.

Also, I apologize if you think my post was childish. But to each their own...

Umm, you first came out and clearly insinuated that most players that have the option of going to Wisconsin or Iowa over Minnesota won't take Minnesota. You add the "not bashing" on the end to give the appearance of impartiality.

Looks like another plowhorse for the Badgers. Maybe he comes to MN, but how many players have had offers from Wisconsin and Iowa and decided to come to MN? Not bashing, just wondering.

Not necessarily saying it is childish or that you backtracked later, but you clearly had an agenda when you innocently asked your question. I believe you that you did not know the actual numbers (because you wouldn't have asked if you did, since it doesn't support your view) but you expected to find that very few kids pick MN over IA and WI.

You've got to realize that when you make a statement like that and follow with a question like that, you will not be perceived as "asking an honest question." I don't really care, but don't pretend to be offended when you should have clearly expected this response.

Not to mention if you are trying to make a point with a question it usually helps to know the answer to the question you're asking beforehand. Otherwise you risk making yourself look bad when your presumption is wrong.
