Gophers now selling single game tickets for USD and N. Ill

Now would be a great time for some creative marketing.

Unlike games against NDSU and SDSU, the USD game doesn't seem to motivate the visiting fans to come to the game. I looked at the USD message board - it barely exists in the first place, but there has been only a couple posts about this game, and none in a couple weeks.

This.

Maybe USD should be taken out of the "one game for regional" teams slot. NDSU, SDU, Montanta(s) at least they sell their allotments.

Cue the "if only the Gophers win" posts.

Or they should at least show some interest. NDSU, SDSU and UND all have quite active forums. USD barely has one at all, it might average a few posts a week.

Since USD is still in their D-1 transition period it will be interesting to see if they are forced back to D-II or able to stick with being D-1 for sports after they are reviewed by the NCAA. The USD facilities are a joke and not sure what they have done in terms of upgrading them. It is not a surprise to see not much of a following for their team.

Go Gophers!

I don't think that USD's facilities would keep them from making it in D-I, I am sure there are schools with much worse facilities. It does seem there are more USD posters on SDSU's board than on the USD board. And half the posters on USD's board are PantherHawk...

Don't forget that font of wisdom....

Lakesbison. What board of a future foe would be complete without that tool?

I'm glad that the u is trying to put butts in the seats in season #2 at the bank, but can you imagine what next year will be like if we don't have a breakthrough season this year? at least this year we have a great home schedule with 4 top programs which is great value for the money. but we can't even sell the season out ahead of time, next year could be dome like if we don't have a huge year this year to attract the casual fan.

And he's the other half. He used to claim to be a Gopher fan when we weren't playing NDSU. But he ran constant smack for a couple years. And I don't think he once posted here to talk about the Gophers, it was always to talk about NDSU. We have Bison fans on this board who are also Gopher fans, and generally they talk about the Gophers most of the time.

He must have been miffed that he wasn't well recieved here after a couple years of constant smack, so now he's PantherHawk's apprentice. Sort of like Darth Vader to the Emperor. And by Emperor, I mean the Star Wars Kid.

So true.

When I read what you typed, I flashed on Robot Chicken's "An Empire to Run". I could just see the duality of trolldom having a call like that.

"What do you mean they blew up the Death Star?"

"What the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?"

Lakes is actually a UND fan. He's just trying to help UND by making NDSU look bad.

I think you may be a little off on this post. I suspect they are returned tickets from the visiting allotment that didn't sell as part of the two-packs they were doing for a while. Otherwise wouldn't there be tickets for all regular season games?

I do not entirely agree with all of the above. First of all we have 16 days before our first game. Whether every game will be sold out is yet to be determined. Secondly, one of the best moves in building TCF was the decision to stop at 50,000 seats. We have an incredible core of fans who will attend almost "no matter what". Even if I become totally, totally frustrated with the current program I will be very hard pressed to give up my seats for next year. At 50,000 seats we will not be half empty next year no matter what the team does this season. One fifth empty would signify a real fall off in support for next year. A disaster.

USD has nicer facilities than SDSU did at SDSU's transition time (SDSU has upgraded/is upgrading now)

The season tickets are sold out. These are the tickets that got returned by the opposing schools, not the normal season ticket base. I agree that its kind of lame that these aren't already gone, I actually blame the U for that one. Because they've effed up great chances to make the sale of these extra tickets easy. There is no wait list being kept for season tickets. How easy would it be to keep that list and then contact everyone on it directly to offer them tickets to these games? Putting aside an idea like that, it seems like the primary marketing push on these tickets to people who already have tickets. Where's the marketing to the fan who doesn't have seats yet? This isn't rocket science.
