Gophers Nonconference Schedule Update -- will host Lafayette of Patriot League

The Gophers will play Lafayette at The Barn on Dec. 22 (game time TBD), per Lafayette's men's basketball web site. Assuming Sid's previous report is accurate that the season opener is Nov. 9 at The Barn vs. American University, that means the Gophers have two Patriot League programs on their schedule.

Lafayette finished 13-18 last season, 5th in the Patriot League with a 7-7 conference mark. The Leopards play a representative non-league schedule which also includes games @ Kentucky, Maryland and Stanford.

Unofficially, the Gophers have 2 or 3 games yet to be announced/determined. Still trying to dig up the reported major conference and/or marquee neutral-site game (between Nov. 12-14?) that Doogie heard about and twittered a couple weeks ago. My best guess (and it's a wild one) is it'll be Creighton (in Des Moines) or VCU (@ Target Center or The X).

Bucknell and Lehigh should be the clear-cut favorites to win the Patriot League, and from the way it sounds American would fall right behind the 2 top dogs. Lafayette probably middle of the pack in the Patriot.
