It's awesome, the Gopher's scores come up much more quickly on the ESPN/CBS/NBC crawls.

Boy, if we can manage to steal a road win @ Illinois, suddenly the following matchup with Indiana really becomes a colossally epic rankings battle. (As far as our Gophers are concerned, anyway)

The coaches apparently think we're a Top 10 team now too. But apparently not quite as good as a two-loss Florida team whose only win over a ranked foe was #22 Wisconsin, back when apparently some people were able to say with a straight face that Wisconsin was the 22nd best team in the country. I suppose their effort in a loss to unranked Kansas State, and their recent wins over perennial powerhouses Yale and Air Force must have been very impressive.

I'm just glad both polls are relatively consistent with where we're ranked. It was kind of annoying seeing a 5 spot difference between the two.

Let's just see how this week goes, shall we? We are not infallible, just yet.

Amen to that fellow Gopherholer! But, man it sure is fun to have this team right now! Go Gophers!!

What's the best case ranking next week for two losses? Call me a MN sports fan. How about a split?

I think with two losses next week, we would still be top 20 at least. It would be two road losses to top 15 teams, both respectable losses. Though I was a little bit surprised that Ohio State dropped 7 spots for a split this week, with a road loss at #11 Illinois.

I think OSU dropped more cause people aren't totally sure about them. They don't really have a great win, but they do have quality losses, so that kind of kept them up there. But at some point, you need some quality wins and they don't have any yet.

While it would be justified for us to be ranked ahead of them (and we are in the AP), if UF and MN played on a neutral court this week, we'd be 5 point underdogs at best, IMO.

Plus they got blown out by 19. If it's a close game I don't think they drop nearly as much.

Dep's on how the teams behind us do, but I'd guess with 2 losses we'd drop from #8 to #14 (these are both road games vs teams that are or recently were in the top 10, remember, and we should still be ahead of MSU, and they're at #16 now).

With a split I think we'd only drop 1 or 2 spots, if that.

I say two losses and MN falls to about 20 or 22, a split and they go to about 10, win both and maybe top 5?

If they spilt, I would prefer a loss at Ill and and win and Indiana.

Last week, Illinois lost on the road to an average team and won at home over a high-ranked team. They dropped one spot.

If we split road games against #12 and #5, it's a safe bet that we don't move.
