And his Big Ten predictions as well:
(2010-11 nonconference record, last season's conference finish in parenthesis)
1. Ohio State (13-0, tied first) — Jared Sullinger. Enough said. The freshman center had 40 points and 19 rebounds in separate games this season.
2. Purdue (11-1, tied first) — JaJuan Johnson (19.8 points per game) and E'Twaun Moore (19.4) make the Boilermakers dangerous even without Robbie Hummel.
3. Michigan State (8-4, tied first) — Doubt is surrounding last season's Final Four participant, but Spartans' losses have been to Duke, Connecticut, Syracuse and Texas.
4. Illinois (10-2, fifth) — The Illini might have the most talent in the Big Ten after the Buckeyes, but the key is the consistency of seniors Demetri McCamey and Mike Davis.
5. Minnesota (11-1, sixth) — Getting point guard Al Nolen back before Big Ten play was critical, but the Gophers still have issues with free-throw shooting and defending three-pointers.
6. Wisconsin (10-2, fourth) — Minnesotans Jon Leuer and Jordan Taylor have made their case to be the conference's top inside-outside combination.
7. Northwestern (9-1, tied seventh) — Could this be the year the Wildcats make their first NCAA tournament appearance? If so, John Shurna is the reason.
8. Michigan (10-2, tied seventh) — The Wolverines don't have a go-to player this year, but they might surprise some teams.
9. Indiana (9-5, tied ninth) — Christian Watford is an emerging star, averaging 18 points a game for the Hoosiers.
10. Penn State (8-4, 11th) — Talor Battle is still one of the Big Ten's top guards, but he doesn't have much of a supporting cast.
11. Iowa (7-5, tied ninth) — The Hawkeyes are in rebuilding mode for the second time in four seasons.
