Gophers jump to 2nd place in Directors Cup standings

Nice. Imagine if men's hockey lived up to expectations.... sigh.

I thought maturi sucked as an AD? Based on what I read often here anyway.

The way I feel about the Director's Cup is win a sport that has an average attendence above 500 then come talk to me. I'm sorry that I'm not impressed that you Men's Rytham Gymnasitcs won the National Title for the 5 straight year. Sorry I'm not impressed that your or your womens sailing team won the race by 2 minutes(I don't even know if that is a big margin). Anyway you get my point

The Directors Cup seems to give a decided advantage to those universities with the most sports and not necessarily the best run programs. When you have sports like Ice Hockey, Soccer, Water Polo, Crew etc that most other universities do not, you have a significant advantage as far as the Director's Cup is concerned.

Amazing mental midgets we have here. 2nd in the nation. not 20th, not 30th. 2nd. It's an achievement no matter how you look at it or what percieved advantage you think we have.

Just so you are aware, the U only has Women's soccer and crew. So we don't even pick up points on the men's side for two of the sports you mentioned.

I was aware of that thank you, I was just giving examples of sports that many schools do not carry which puts them at a disadvantage. For instance, Penn State has men's volleyball and they are one of the few non west coach schools to have this.

did anyone know that there's a NCAA championship for fencing? Apparently, Penn St finished 1st and got 100 points for it.

I found it interesting that Army was 6th in Rifle and Navy was 7th. Who was number one? West Virginia.
