The Gophers basketball team could have only one healthy point guard for Sunday's game against No. 23 Indiana at Williams Arena, coach Tubby Smith said at today's news conference.
Junior Julian Welch (hip pointer) and sophomore Maverick Ahanmisi (ankle) missed today's practice because of injuries.
Welch is expected to play against the Hoosiers, but might be replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Andre Hollins. Ahanmisi's status for Sunday is uncertain after sitting out Wednesday's 66-61 loss against Michigan State at home.
"It puts a little more responsibility on the other players around (Hollins) to do a better job and be better ballhandlers," Smith said.
Welch said his hip was just "all right" after he tweaked it while lifting weights Friday.
"I practiced it after it happened," he said. "(The trainer) just told me today to stay off it and let it rest up for tomorrow."
