The University of Minnesota football team will host its pro day for outgoing Gophers on Monday, March 2, at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex.

The following former Gophers from last year’s team are slated to participate: Michael Amaefula, Cameron Botticelli, David Cobb, Zac Epping, Isaac Fruechte, Logan Hutton, Marcus Jones, Donnell Kirkwood, Harold Legania, Ben Perry, Cedric Thompson, Derrick Wells, Maxx Williams, Damien Wilson and Devon Wright. Derrick Engel, who was a senior on the 2013 Minnesota team and had his season ended by injury, will also participate.

This session, which begins at 8 a.m., is not open to the public but is open to the media.

Go Gophers!!

A couple of the names are puzzling. But then I am reminded of the former Gopher great Spurgeon Wynn III. He was drafted before Tom Brady. So, I'm saying there is a chance.

Tough breaks for Cobb. Not enough time to fully recover, most likely. He'll attempt to run but it won't be his best effort. Really, really unfortunate but life is uphill sometimes.

He probably runs in the 4.6ish range and the scouts don't need to time him to recognize he isn't the fastest back out there. The injuries will hurt his stock a little with some teams but I still expect him to be drafted in 4-5th. The coaches that recognize talent know what he can do and whether he fits their scheme.

If this tweak of his quad is of equal severity (or lack thereof) as the Nebraska game hamstring tweak than I don't see it affecting his performance too much. The primary concerns of him playing against Wiscy were the chilly temperatures which would tighten up his hamstring when he wasn't on the field. Being in an indoor heated facility, that won't matter and he will be able to stay loose. Second even with that, he didn't miss a beat. Third, he will have two days longer to heal up than he did in the Wiscy game week.

Also, since you say he will run in the 4.6 range without it being his best effort are you saying he would run in the 4.5 range otherwise? I'd expect him to be a 4.65-4.68 guy when healthy but I do expect him to be healthy next week.

I wasn't clear. His best effort is probably 4.6-4.65 IMO. Obviously just a best guess but probably close.

It's unlikely he will run a max 40 a few weeks removed from a significant muscle pull because even young men's bodies need time to heal, and he won't be able to train.

He wasn't 100% during the Wisconsin game and was clearly slowed or sick during the Missouri game. It wasn't just the Missouri D. He looked pretty good at the Senior Bowl and I was hopeful he'd make it all the way back for the combine but he probably needs time off for adequate rest and proper training. The quad pull was the same leg as the hamstring.
