It remains to be seen whether or not we are overstating the impact of playing outdoor, on-campus football at home again. Personally, I think anyone who called the Metrodome a "neutral" venue is overstating it -- but just a little.

There is no denying, though, that the Metrodome was not a condusive environment for college football and did not normally give us the kind of home field advantage that other teams enjoy. Personally, I will always put an asterisk next to our "home" record from 1982-2008, because it was never really the Gophers' home.

When we've played wisconsin on our true "home" field, we are 32-15-2 (.673 winning percentage). We won 8 of the last 10 games on the University of Minnesota campus (.800 winning percentage) and we won 17 and tied once in our last 25 on-campus games against the badgers (.700 winning percentage).

In the Metrodome, wisconsin had a "slight" winning advantage (and don't let anyone tell you differently). In the 13 battles for Paul Bunyan's Axe that were played in the Dome, wisconsin won 7 and Minnesota won 6 and we've split our last 4 Dome games.

Like all of us, I hope that we will start out undefeated at home in the Border Battle. Regardless of the outcome this Saturday, though, I am certain that we will retain our overall winning record against the badgers on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

Minnesota, Hail to Thee!
Hail to Thee, our College dear!
Thy light shall ever be
A beacon bright and clear.
Thy sons and daughters true
Will proclaim Thee near and far.
They will guard thy fame, and adore thy name;
Thou shalt be their Northern Star! :clap::clap::clap:
