According to Dochterman, the Golden Gophers hockey program is the only non football or basketball program in the entire Big Ten that finished 2024 with a net surplus ($1.82 million). They did so, thanks to a total revenue generated of $7.84 million, which also led all “non-revenue” sports.

Only two other sports beyond football and men’s basketball recorded profits in fiscal year 2024: Minnesota men’s ice hockey and Nebraska women’s volleyball. The Gophers generated $7.84 million and featured a $1.82 million surplus. The Huskers earned $7.25 million in revenue and were $1.34 million in the black.

Go Gophers!!

How in the heck did Iowa women's basketball run in the red with Caitlyn Clark? That's crazy.

Edit: I realize this is the hockey board. So you can ignore that question.

Wbb and many of the non revenues now have flights all over the country from coast to coast and I’m guessing the ticket prices though massive on secondary market were not upped. Add that to that people negotiated deals with her directly and they were large, probably not a lot of her to go around back to the University deals versus what was NIL and private

I was curious on this also.

In finding an article, they saw big increases in their ticket revenue (1.43 million to 3.26 million), thanks both to ticket price increases as well as the outdoor event at Kinnick Stadium. They also doubled their miscellaneous game day revenue (parking, concessions, novelty, etc) up to 858 thousand.

However, all of that was wiped out by increased expenses. They spent a staggering 1.72 million on game day expenses (up from 828 thousand the prior year). The article stated some of that was probably because of the Kinnick game, and also additional security. By comparison, defending champion LSU spent 258 thousand on game day expenses. The other big expense increase was the coach got a big bump in pay, and total coaching salaries rose from 2.74 million to 3.94 million.

This isn't true per the article? Nebraska women's volleyball was also in the black. Those are the only 2.
