Getting votes in the preseason poll is a pretty big milestone for this program, even if it's only 6 votes.

That's about what I expected. I believe we add enough passing this year to crack possibly the top 20 at the end of November imo.

Looks like Bret gave himself a vote. I'm not sure who else would vote for a team that went 0-8 in their conference the year before.

Auburn lived a charmed life last season. Get my vote for most overrated, will come back down to earth.

Idk about overrated, they dismantled everyone and had a lead against FSU late.

Auburn has always had an odd history of records. They go 14-0, 8-5, 3-9, 12-2 the past four seasons, in reverse order. And those four seasons are hardly outliers in their history.

I would bet that if someone put in the effort to look at the histories of all teams, they would have one of the highest standard deviations of all teams.

While that is true, they were a quarter away from a National Title. I hope to see us that charmed some day...

Is there any way to see who voted? If this is a coach's poll, I wouldn't be surprised if most of our votes come from coaches of teams on our schedule trying to boost the perceived (can't believe I just tried to write "percepted" as the past tense of "perceive") strength of their schedule.

Oops. My bad. 20th.

Maybe Gary Patterson put us at 20th. Could have done it for 2 reasons - he and Jerry are friends and it helps boost the perceived difficulty of his schedule.

Ahead of Michigan in the preseason BCS!

That looks list post-season last year standings (or more likely, pre-bowl games). If you look at the Harris poll, it was last updated: 01/14/2014

Early Bird ranked us in their top 25 and the third Big Ten team while Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska did not get ranked. That was before our bowl loss though.
