This is not intended to be negative but have the recent decommits helped the fall in the recruiting rankings? Or the Kansas opening bull*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#? You decide. Or we I should say.

Go Gophers!!

In terms of falling in recruiting rankings, it generally happens for a couple of reasons. One is that other recruits may have committed to other schools that were near us in the standings and therefore, pushed them ahead of us. Second, our decommits have also committed to other programs, which probably has also hurt us a bit. Third, Rivals (and Scout for that matter) periodically update their ratings for recruits and depending upon whether players go up or down in Rivals' eyes, the ranking could be affected that way.

Having said all that, I don't put as much stock into recruiting rankings as others. I'm more interested in how they ACTUALLY perform on the field as opposed to how someone else thinks they MIGHT perform on the field. Still, it's an interesting talking point if nothing else.

Recruits and Rival's

Thanks for your reply Mr. senor Gopher. One thing I forgot to take into consideration is that signing day is not til February sometime and still things could happen for these "de-commits". Maybe even Henderson will commit to be a Gopher. Hopefully.Even though he has not officially "committed" to any program at this time. Maybe soon.

Go Gophers!!!

Yeah, recruiting rankings tend to fluctuate all the way up to signing day. And as you noted, we certainly have more than a few irons in the fire in terms of recruiting between now and February. Still, they are kind of fun to check in on from time to time.

Recruiting and Ranking's,etc...........

Thanks again for your feedback senor Gopher. I mentioned Henderson in the above post and does anyone know where he may be leaning to at this time? Ohio State? Florida? Oklahoma? oe even (gasp) Iowa? He should still stay in Minnesota. He would have it made here. Plus it would be a great shot in the arm for the program, especially when we really need it.

Go Gophers!!!!

One can conclude that the result on the field is more important than the result of the recruiting, only when the coach is a true coach -- not just a recruiter.

We would be heading towards 25 now if not for the departures. The one that really hurt us is huff. The others will eventually be replaced by similarly ranked kids. Another one ranked as well as Huff is unlikely.

The Huff de-commit really hurt the Gophers' ranking, but I think it will all even out once we hit National Signing Day. It's all verbal commits right now anyway nothing has been signed yet.

One reason the Gophers were shuffled is because they updated the top 250 yesterday and switched around some rankings. It'll all come together Feb. 3, nothing much to fret about.

I think the Gophers will end up between 30-40 this year. Between our rotten performance at the end of the season, Brew's lack of contract, and success of Wisconsin and Iowa hurting regional recruiting we won't get as many 4-star guys as the last couple years.
