Gophers' Brewster on dad duty tonight

Got to love that there are 2 comments on the article....and both are from pantherhawk.

Apparently he just can't fit it all in one...had to make it two....what a tool...

Call me petty, or whatever, but I don't like the fact that he's going to the game decked out in Texas garb. At all. It just sends the wrong message.

Dude used to coach there and has about a bazillion ties to the program, the greatest of which being that he has a son playing there. Couple that with his passionate personality, I'd be a little weirded out if he WASN'T wearing Texas garb.

"For one night, Brewster isn't a major college head coach. He's a dad. And when his son Nolan, a reserve safety who backs up both Longhorns starters, takes the field with his Texas teammates for the BCS national title game, Brewster will feel the same mixture of pride and anxiety as the other parents."

That is why. Not sure how that sends the wrong message.

Maybe he can wear some Gopher's boxers, or socks, or something. Would that help?

At least that way he'd be able to say he keeps the maroon and gold nearest to him!

Yeah, I think it's petty lol. I know where you're coming from, but when the kiddies are involved, I just take a step back and come at it different.

I don't like the fact that instead of out on the recruiting trail or breaking down game film of Middle Tennessee State, he's taking the time to watch his son play a football game.

If this sends the wrong message of a dad watching his son play in his son's team colors, then board up the facility. I don't want to be a college football fan anymore!

Obviously, he's not just any dad. It's great that he is there supporting his son. But there is no reason for him to be wearing Texas garb. He's tacitly endorsing a direct competitor, if only for a night. That would be like Brett Favre showing up at the Packers/Cardinals game this weekend wearing Packers clothes.

I'm not saying he has to be wearing Gophers gear, but if he's not comfortable doing that, then wear normal, non-school clothing.

(P.S. I would have no problem with this if it were a D-IAA, DII, or DIII school where he was going to watch his son play. They are not competing for the same things we are.)

Didn't Roy Williams, as coach of UNC last season, sport a KU cap while watching the Jayhawks in the NCAA tournament?

Yep, and some fans had a fit, but really, it meant nothing in the end. And that was two days after KU gave UNC a bonafide butt whippin in the semis.

My god people. The man's son is playing in a National Championship game. Up to this point, this is no doubt the biggest moment in his young life. If his Dad wasn't there to support him, I would definitely be dissapointed in our Coach.

Who cares what he wears. If anything, he might get spotlighted by a camera and be put on national television to further give our program some exposure.

Lighten up people.

That is a terrible comparison. Let me try an fix it.

If Brett Farve was head coach of the Chicago Bears(not in the playoffs) and he had a son that played for the Packers against the Colts for the Super Bowl Championship, I would have no problem having him wear Packer colors to cheer for his son.

Who is he recruiting in Philly? That's the real question. Lackawana CC in 2+ hours away but it seems like there would be a closer airport than Philly to fly into.
