Gophers are opening as a 13.5-14 point dogs on the online sportsbooks tonight.

Lots of good games next week. Other interesting lines (home team in caps):

NOTRE DAME -14.5 Michigan State (Huh?!)
IOWA -6 Arizona (Co-B10 GOTW)
Northwestern -4 SYRACUSE
PURDUE -12.5 Northern Illinois (Will the real two teams please stand up?)
Southern Cal -21 WASHINGTON (Pac-10 road openers are ALWAYS where the Trojans slip)
OREGON -4.5 Utah
FLORIDA -28.5 Tennessee (Look out Kiffins)

So the 'Cuse played 3 Big Ten teams to open the season? I realize the Big East is not the top football conference and all, but that's mighty ballsy. I wonder how many times teams have ever opened up a season before by playing 3 OOC games against teams from the same big-time conference. Do note that two of their games are at home, though.

what do people expect?

We deserve to be big dogs. I like it however because I believe we can cover. Absolutely no reason to argue against the favorite here but Cal can take a poop when you least expect it.

It's very enjoyable to be home underdogs in a Non-conference game, first time in the last decade???? Or longer?

I love it, I think we got the bears right where we want them.

Cal has scored 52 and 59 points respectively in their first two games. Even with our better defense and the fact this is Cal's first road game, they will still score at least around 30 points. That said, we have scored 23 and 20 and our offense is showing some progression (4th quarter). Plus, Cal may open up the game more and not hold the ball as long as AFA. So, I see us getting at least 20 points this week as well, and we cover. The upset is possible! Go gophers!
