Gophers 6.5 point favorites against Rutgers.

Too lazy to look. How does this match up with the predictors that were posted after the I-O-W-A game?

Otherwise I'll curb my enthusiasm and hope the team does so too. Another big game. Fun. Ski U Mah!

This is absolutely a game we should win if we play well. Rutgers was riding high early on some undeserved pre-season hype but they really should be on a 5 game losing streak right now (if the Washington kicker hadn't gone 1-4 on FG in that game).

As long as Brosmer keeps doing what he has been doing and protecting the ball our defense should be able to handle anything Athan can throw at them or more likely to them. Pretty easy defensive gameplan for this one.....load up to stop their RB and make Athan beat you with his arm.

Some of the hype for Rutgers was the same as nebraskas

It wasn’t based on quality of team more based on the way the schedule sets up. Rutgers misses:
Ohio state
Penn state
Oregon
Indiana
Michigan
Iowa

When people say that the new big ten means no more easy schedules…check the 2024 Rutgers schedule.

However, I think the analytics have this right.
This is a coin flip game to me when both teams are playing their best. But Rutgers hasn’t been playing their best in over a month. So I pick gophers.
60/40 sounds about right.
If it was at home it would be 70/30

If anything the bigger conference actually makes it more likely that you will get an "easier" schedule.

Indiana only plays one team from the current top 5 in the conference (Ohio State), and just 3 of the top 10 (Michigan, Washington). By contrast we certainly don't have the worst conference schedule but we play 2 of the top 5 (PSU, Iowa) and 5 of the current top 10 (Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin).

Correct: this schedule is back to the easiest era of big ten football.
It was when it was 11 teams and only 8 conference games.

So you could win a big ten title without beating anyone like Barry Alvarez did in 94. Beat neither the team he tied with for a conference title nor the team in third place

The difference is now you could go unbeaten and be left out of the championship game.
+ the championship game means if you miss everyone you still have to beat a top 2 team in the final game to win it
