A head start for 2010-11. Nonconference games listed below are rumored to be on the docket. I will update as needed between now and finalization of the schedule in August. A word of caution: the Seton Hall game might be in limbo because of a coaching change.

Am holding out hope the Big Ten will go to full round robin schedule (20 games) next year, but until we hear otherwise we'll assume Big Ten schedule remains at 18.

Bumped, updated with Siena game date.

Siena likely will be Gophers' second game and last one prior to Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Safe to assume Gophers will open season with a cupcake on Friday, November 12, or Saturday, November 13.

Hodger, Shooter adds Akron to the schedule:

"The Gophers men's basketball team has added Akron for a Dec. 15 game at Williams Arena next season. And because of a new NCAA rule allowing incoming freshmen to go on foreign tours, the Gophers might consider a game in Canada for next season."

Go Gophers!!

Just to please Mrs. Joseph for having both her sons and a family friend there, no doubt.

Thanks Bleed. I'll update the schedule. Akron's a solid MAC program. Won 23 games last season, runner-up in the MAC Tournament, #89 in RPI. Six players averaged between 7.3 and 10.1 ppg, three of which return.

Still waiting for the announcement of a home-and-home with a major program, but an ACC opponent (presumably), Akron, Siena & Wofford already is a significant improvement over last season's home schedule. Nice work so far by Joe & Tubby.

Marcus had this earlier regarding a Canadian Tour - Looks like it would be part of a summer tour to a place "Friendly, Familiar, Foreign and Near" after August 1, 2010 rather than a game, as Shooter says, 'next season'.

Quoting Marcus:

-- Smith likely will take advantage of another new NCAA rule effective Aug. 1. The rule allows incoming freshmen to join the team on a foreign tour during the summer. The Gophers could have up to six newcomers this year, so taking a trip could go a long way toward building chemistry. I was told that the team is trying to schedule a trip to Canada because it would be less costly and a homecoming for Walker, Devoe Joseph and possibly Cory Joseph if he signs with Minnesota.

Anyone know how good Siena is supposed to be next season? I'm a bit anxious for that one already, if they are anything like the Siena of the last few seasons it could be interesting. Hopefully it'll be a fun one to be at, better than this seasons routine cupcake after cupcake anyway.

Siena loses a lot and now has a new coach, but it does have a couple productive starters returning, Ryan Rossiter & Clarence Jackson. I would expect a dropoff from what they've been the last few seasons (3 straight NCAAs), but they should be decent.
