Gophers 18th in the AP poll. Illinois/Mich St drop out

Can't believe it took this long for MSU to drop out. Perhaps the AP voters will finally believe what their eyes should have been telling them for more than a month. ... this has become a pedestrian Sparty club that Izzo simply will have to nudge & cajole its way into the NCAA Tournament to keep their NCAA streak alive.

#18 is about the right spot for our Rodents. I suspect if the Gophers are still ranked next week at this time we'll be a happy group. It probably means we beat Ohio State. I don't think the Gophers will remain ranked next week absent a win over the Buckeyes.

Nice to see UNC and WVU in the poll this week. That gives us wins over three currently-ranked teams.

You really think a win over Indiana and a loss to #1 will drop us from #18/20 to out? I disagree. As long as we don't get blown out of the building, I don't see droping more then a couple spots, as we did this week. Is losing at home to #1, really that much worse then losing at Purdue?

Possibly but not definitely, largely because I'm not assuming we'll beat Indiana. I blame it on Maturi that I have this opinion.;)

Either way, you don't have to decide until next Sunday, so no sense thinking about it in advance ;)

Obviously if we lose both we'll be out. A split either way will net a drop of a couple spots, but not more then that, IMO. Obivously, it would be great to sweep and be discussing whether we can crack the top 10.

With a win over Indy and a loss to OSU, I think the Gophers will still be ranked. I'm not real confident of a win over Indy however.

Winning on the road in the B1G Ten Ten Ten Ten is never easy.

Since NW can give OSU fits without Shurna I feel good about our chances at home but I also worry about Indiana - they should have beat MSU Sunday!

A lot of it depends on how other teams perform. If 900 teams in the top 25 lose again next weekend like they did this past weekend, a loss may not drop us out. If all the top 25 teams have a perfect week, then one loss probably knocks us out.

It's the kinder, gentler NCAA. Everyone is in the Top 25 and everyone will be allowed into the Dance.

It is dangerously approaching that territory with some of the at-larges that are going to receive bids this year.

Are there 900 teams that are elgible to be in the top 25?

Also on a side note looks like Izzo should have left for Cleveland I mean he can't be much worse than there current head coach.

Coaching is about #13 on the list of Cleveland's problems.

Why in the world would he want to coach that mess? 21 straight losses? That goes beyond bad coaching, and Byron Scott is actually a decent coach, which tells you how bad that team really is. They really lost it when LeBron took their soul in that first matchup in Cleveland. I think they've literally won one game since then. Makes MSU's issues look like child's play LOL.

I don't usually comment on the pros since I don't follow them but a good comment on ESPN the other night that the Bulls had the same miserable record after Jordan left. The team was built to support the "star" (Jordan or James). When they left, only supporting players were left to pick-up the pieces.
