Wouldn't that be a nice change.

"On second down of their opening possession, the Terrapins gave up a sack from the left side. On third down, they gave up a sack from the right side. Sacks will be a central issue for Maryland (4-1, 1-1 Big Ten) when it plays Minnesota (3-2, 0-2) on Saturday in College Park. The Terrapins come into the game allowing 3.2 sacks per game, the most in the Big Ten.

“We’ll do everything we can to try and get them in third-and-long situations and try to take advantage of that,” Gophers coach Tracy Claeys said Tuesday.

The Gophers’ defense generates two sacks a game, which ranks 10th in the Big Ten. Minnesota had a season-low one sack in Saturday’s 14-7 loss to Iowa, which was one of the few downsides in a stout defensive game...

Coordinator Jay Sawvel said his defense has had between 10 to 14 quarterback pressures in each game this season. He said he didn’t have Saturday’s number available off the top of his head on Tuesday, but he liked what he saw.

“I thought we made them throw the ball quicker at times,” Sawvel said. “Even some of the times we aren’t hitting him and putting him on the ground, there is traffic. There is not clean bubbles around him.”

Defensive end Tai’yon Devers, the Gophers’ biggest nightmare for opposing quarterbacks, played against the Hawkeyes but appeared slowed by his high ankle sprain. Before missing the 29-26 loss to Penn State, Devers had three sacks and forced three fumbles in his first three games.
