Anyone get that tweet today? Solid move, Gophers :cool02:

Yeah, I saw a glimpse of it. Didn't get the notification on my phone (normally I get text notifications from GopherAthletics), though. I just saw a few re-tweets of it.

I do find it hilarious that GopherHole retweeted

When I first saw it I panicked because I was sure something truly awful had happened and even our PR department had to vent.

"Joel Maturi signed to lifetime contract"

"Tubby leaving, Pam Borton to be new men's coach"

LOL, saw that too, quite the blunder. classy

I know nothing about the inner workings of Twitter. So here's my question - how did this happen? Intern at the sports office did it intentionally? Accidentally? Or was it hacked?

All 3 of those scenarios could be possible or it could be similiar to what happened to the social media guy for the ad firm that worked for Chrysler. He used a program that managed multiple Twitter accounts on one phone and accidently tweeted some bad content on the official Chrysler Twitter page instead of his own personal account. He was fired.

I'm not totally familar with how Twitter works, but isn't that a post from 'RT' directed at 'GopherAthletics'? It's not a post from 'GopherAthletics', is it?

I'm not on Twitter either, but I believe how it was is the original tweet was by GopherAthletics, but others re-tweeted (RT) the post on their pages, including GH, hence the "RT @GopherAthletics" followed by the message they're retweeting, in this case, the f-bomb that was tweeted by GopherAthletics.

I'm stunned there hasn't been an apology, regardless how it happened.

Anybody who thinks this deserves an official apology needs to lighten the f up!

I suspect the person responsible for managing the person who puts out the Twitter message doesn't subscribe to the Twitter feed. We are in an odd time where alot of the senior people know the buzzwords about technology but don't really understand the uses.

I wonder what he was responding to. "Dude, Chipotle is totally packed. You will be in line for like 20 minutes?" "F*ck".

Yet another Gopher PR blunder.

The defenders of Tim Brewster's honor used to suggest his Twitter blunders (i.e. 'Phat Pat' waking up and looking in the mirror every morning) were the result of hackers from somewhere on the planet hacking into his account.

I guess the same may have happened here, too. ;)

NOT:eek:
