Noora Räty is a three-time All-American and three-time Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Finalist

University of Minnesota senior goaltender Noora Räty has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 At-Large First Team, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A three-time All-American and three-time Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Finalist, Räty is a journalism major with a 3.50 grade point average. She closed out a historic collegiate career by guiding the Gophers to back-to-back national titles and a perfect 41-0 season. The Espoo, Finland native, who is considered arguably the best goaltender in NCAA history, posted a spotless 38-0 record this past season and capped off her career by breaking seven NCAA records, including single season and career save percentage, season and career wins, season and career shutouts, and season winning percentage.

Räty has also been named to the WCHA All-Academic Team three times and was tagged a WCHA Scholar-Athlete this past season.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capitol One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America Honorees will be selected later this month.

To be considered for the Capital One All-America Team, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached at least sophomore academic standing at her current school, and be nominated by her sports information director.

The Women's At-Large program for Academic All-America includes the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, and water polo. In its overall program, CoSIDA has honored more than 14,000 student-athletes as Academic All-Americans since 1952.
