This was indeed a big win, one of the biggest Gopher wins in my lifetime and definitely my new favorite bowl win.
-- For all those players too afraid of playing in their bowl game due to possible injury, Tyler Johnson probably moved up about 3-4 rounds with this game - he really opened some eyes with this game.
-- I think you have to give the OC job internally, and it would be a mistake to go out somewhere and bring in possibly a new offense. Stick with what you have with maybe a few tweaks. I expect them to announce Simon as the new OC very soon.
-- This was a huge barometer game for the Gophers. How far have we come, where we are at and what do we need to do to get better. I think we need some work on special teams across the board but I really like where we are at and where we are going.
-- This was a huge win for recruiting. It makes the staff's job even easier at recruiting high end talent, especially in the South. If you lived in the South and the Gophers got demolished 52-0 by Auburn why would you even think about coming here instead of Auburn? Well the tables have turned in a big time way!
-- Minnesota outcoached Auburn and going in I did not think this was possible. Fleck and his staff gets an A for preparation, an A for motivation, an A for adjustments and an A for anything else. Just a flat out A.
-- If you are the rest of the Big Ten you have to hope someone comes in and takes Fleck away because if he stays, Minnesota is going to be a major rising force. If you are trying to recruit against him that is about all you have got.
-- As all good coaches would say, we had a great season, but we can be even better in years to come. Relax and enjoy this one for awhile, but then it's time to get back to work and do what we can to get even better!!
-- After seeing games like this how can a Minnesota kid possibly want to go out of state if they are being offered by the Gophers? Everything you want is right here!
