If Jeff Horton is the guy what will the people say who said that Fisch was getting a step up career wise say about Horton? if we hire a QB coach from the NFL then it must be a step down for him if it was a step up for Fisch to leave Gopher OC for QB coach in NFL.

this is the epitome of having it both ways.

i would like this hire much better than Might.

Who said it was a step up for Jedd??? Jed may have wanted to go the NFL route, thus a career move of sort but a step up its not. It may be a good future career move to work with Bates and Caroll with hopes of first being an OC in the NFL.

Horton took his "step down" when he went from a Head Coach at UNLV back to Assistant Coach at Wisconsin. Nobody has won at UNLV much since they joined the MWC. Horton needed the job. Good for him. It could be a great hire for Minnesota.

(Are you really that obsessed by Fisch leaving?)
 

I believe I like his resume far better than Jedd's. As the Becky QB coach he certainly took average QB's to a higher level, at least against us. His HC experience can't hurt either.
 


Wisconsin always does a good job with their quarterbacks. They never look like much,
but they get the job done.

I'm loathe to compliment anything regarding Wisconsin football, but their QB handling over the years has been excellent. That always seems to be the one position they don't get much in the way of upper level recruits, yet their QBs are never a liability, and seem to make plays in big situations.

Ugh. I have to go and take a bath and a shower now.:pig:
 

Any guy who could get effing Bollinger and Sorgi in the NFL is fine by me.

Actually, I agree that he's gotten the most out of the QB talent at Wisky. Then again, UW skill players don't often succeed on Sundays. Look at Fatboy Dayne. They do produce some solid linemen (which is why #33 looked as good as he did on Saturdays).

Considering that Horton was on the Lions, going back to college might be considered a step up. And he's used to being in a situation where his team doesn't have a go-to RB.

Huh? Like when he had Steven Jackson with the Rams? Or Kevin Smith before he got hurt?

Hey, his coaching got them on NFL rosters. I'm not saying the guy is a lock to succeed as OC here, but he's clearly got a knack for maximizing average talent
