Gopher NC Schedule Update (Appalachian State will visit The Barn on Dec. 6)

According to the Appalachian State web site, the Mountaineers will visit Williams Arena for a 7 p.m. tipoff Tuesday, Dec. 6. Coached by former UNC Tar Heel Jason Capel, App State finished 14-15 last season (10-8 in the SoCon North) with a final RPI of #195. The Mountaineers return four starters, including the SoCon's top returning scorer, 6-5 senior guard Omar Carter (16 ppg, 40% on 3's).

So far, so good. When one of your lower-end nonconference home opponents such as App State figures to land below #200 in the RPI, that's smart scheduling. Assuming the Gophers are indeed playing NDSU, that leaves just two nonconference opponents to be determined.

What we know or has been reported about the Gophs' 2011-12 nonconference schedule, with a bit of conjecture (Old Spice quarterfinal opponent). The Gophers will play 10 nonconference (regular season) games at The Barn. Last season's RPI is noted in parentheses.
