The Golden Gopher football team continues to work out this summer on campus, getting ready for fall camp which starts in August. Players are allowed to spend a limited number of hours each week with the coaching staff during the summer months, while getting a much larger allotment of hours with the strength and conditioning staff in the weight room. The reigning Big Ten Running Back of the Year is Minnesota senior Mohamed Ibrahim, who says the summer workouts are a way to build chemistry and show the newcomers how practices should run. The summer practices are led by players, as coaches are not allowed to attend. Ibrahim says the position leaders are doing a good job of organizing the workouts. He also says the work in the weight room in the summer time is especially important to help form the body for the season. The Golden Gophers open the season at home on Thursday, September 2nd against nationally-ranked Ohio State.
