The commitment of Hendrick Ekpe got me thinking about the current and future brother's playing at the U. There could be a total of 7 brother combos at the U in the span of a few years. It seems like a good strategy to recruit this way as the effort spent with big brother goes a long way to getting little brother. Anyways, just thought this was interesting and wondered if it was some kind of record to have this many brother's on one team.

Current (this year or next):
Ed and Tom Olson
Luke and Kyle McAvoy
Mike and Nick Rallis
Scott and Hendrick Ekpe

Future (likely):
Cedric and Tedric Thompson
Alex and Connor Mayes
KJ and Kam Maye

No clue how our numbers compare to others but there definitely is a trend of recruiting a buddy or family member in order to get the prized recruit you are really after. The only reason the U brought in JD Pride a few years ago was in an effort to help land his buddy Seantrel Henderson. Clearly the hope is of course that both siblings can play even if one projects higher than the other.

In regards to the examples you listed.

Ed and Tommy were both pretty highly regarded so doubt one was recruited to get the other
Luke and Kyle came out at the same year, not sure if one projected much better than the other but pretty clear they were a package deal
Mike was a walkon and I doubt Nick really factored into any reasoning for accepting Mike because of their age difference.

To the 4 Kill has brought in tough to say if they were motivated to go after one brother in order to get the other though if they were it is tough to fault the strategy as long as the older brother can contribute as well.

Oregon State had seven sets of brothers three years ago.
