Lots to like even though we trail. Really good play by Mbakwe, Sampson, Hollins, and Armelin. Really everyone doing their job. This looks like a team that is tough minded and has adjusted to the losses of Nolen and Joseph. Well done so far by coach and players.

Once again, I agree with you!

down 3 at the half isn't too bad. hopefully we have another good half and have a chance to steal one on the road.

:D

Hard to complain about the play other than the turnovers.

Our zone will be more effective in the second half with the return of our length (barring more foul trouble). They were able to start getting some dribble penetration at the end and Hollins was struggling to hold up against the bigs for Purdue on the baseline, which shouldn't be surprising as a 6'4" 160 pound freshman. Our defensive rebounding should also improve.

Gotta be within 5 at the first TV timeout of the second half. If we can do that we will be in it to the end. First 4 minutes are very important.

How good did Armelin look when he was on the floor?

That pull-up jumper was Kobe-esque and his ability to drive to the hoop is so consistent. The more I see of Chip, the more I like. Dude can ball.

If he could shoot 70% from the line he would be a stud and would probably get even more minutes. (cause if he could do that he could probably knock down 40% of his jumpshots too).

I just wish Chip would hit more freethrows, he's got a good jumper, not sure why he can't make them at the line.

Gotta like having played without Colton and Rodney for pretty much the whole first half and only being down 3.

And I can't believe these guys aren't pressuring Hoff more. Those little token picks he gets while bringing it up do help though.

I continue to be impressed by the freshmen

Ahanmisi hasn't logged as many minutes, but he plays under control, looks to pass first and (in the past) has shown he can knock down an open shot when needed.
Hollins is definitely the smoothest of the three, but what stands out to me with Hollins and Armelin is that they are dangerous with the ball. Both can drive past their man when pressed and have the ability to score at the hoop or pull up for the mid-range jumper. Neither of those two - and you could also argue that Mav fits, too - play scared or look overmatched.

Really got to step up these next 2 minutes and make sure this doesn't get away from us.

We are within 8 at this timeout. Gotta try to cut it down by the next one. Can't let this lead slowly grow or we will run out of time to get it back down.

Zone seems to be working I'd stick with it...ha! Hope we can keep this within 15
