Especially two blocks away. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, that was probably his problem.
Bingo. That was my fiirst thought. How tired a kid in good condition gets running while weaving, versus cops running a straight line.
Hell, even the dog would get tired trying to follow a weaving line, versus the dog who knows the straight line method.
