There is a lot of negative Tubby press.....keep in mind....
He is missing two of his top recruits....with White he would have a bonified GO2
Scoring option....with westbook and Hofff.......and with MBWKE....He would have an Athletic rebounder.....who can Finish on the Offensive Glass....! Cobbs would be redshirted and maybe even Iverson....

So cut him some slack....the team competed against Mich State....that is more than some other Goher teams have done......he is making the best of what he has...I am thinking NIT at this point however.....I hope i am wrong....

Redshirt Iverson? You can't redshirt sophomores, professor.
 




I don't get this line of thinking at all. So becuase of all of this "negative press" that Tubby is getting, we should cut him some slack. Yet, there has been no actual negative press that I'm aware of (only disgruntled internet posters). Also, the OP is fogetting that we're squarely in line for an NCAA bid, has already ripped on Iverson for needing to play at the D2 level and now is thinking the NIT is a reasonable goal.

To these points, I will say this : If this team doesn't make the NCAAs, it will be a disappointment. Period. That will fall on Tubby, the coaches and the players. Does that mean there should be a bunch of ripping on Tubby? Not necessarily. We'll just have to see where the team is at in March. So to sum up: If we fail to make the NCAAs, it will be a disappointment to everybody. As such, I won't pat Tubby on the back for the NIT. But I also won't unnecessarily rip Tubby, his players or his coaches regardless of where they end up.

Why in the world would Cobbs and Iverson be redshirted if they weren't suspended? Are you implying that Mbakwe or Royce would instead be the backup point guard so we wouldn't need Cobbs? None of what you said makes any sense at all.

I disagree. I think Westbrook would be the one being redshirted and maybe even Johnson. Or maybe all the guards. That way our guards would get plenty of practice time and be really great next year.

1) Don't go making up things out of whole cloth just to start a new thread (i.e. Negative press on Tubby).

2) Take it easy on the '....'s. Sheesh.
 

Hey folks...there seems to be quite a bit of critisism of Tubby in this board and others...that is what I meant by negative press....all I was saying is that keep it all in perspective....and by the way...Cobbs would be redshrited with Devoe Joseph taking a stint at point......all that said....he is missing his 2 top recruits expected to contribute this season.......without a signature win
and without 11 wins...we are an NIT Team...face it....

I agree, but here's the thing: We already knew all of that. No one has any illusions that it won't likely take 11 or 12 wins to make the NCAAs. Therefore, we would end up in the NIT if we don't get to those numbers. To be honest, I feel as though we'll have plenty of chances to get to that number of wins if we play well and consistently. If not, all bets are off.

If you feel differently, that's your perogative. But I'm certainly not ruling out an NCAA appearance as of now.

I admire your grit.

Your "puncuation" is a little like posts that are in all CAPS. It distracts from your message and can annoy some of the audience.

What Negative Press on Tubby? I cannot believe what people write on here just to get people fired up. That being said, last year Penn State had 21 wins and they were NIT bound. The gophers are on the same track unless they win at least 3 of the games against Mich State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Ohio State. The gophers need multiple wins over ranked teams.
