Where do the teams stand entering Week 7 of the season?
Our own Noel Thompson gives us his Big Ten Power Rankings.
1. Ohio State (5-0, 2-0)
Last Week's Result: Ohio State 42, Minnesota 3
Last Week's Ranking: #1
The Buckeyes easily handled the Gophers at home, putting up 476 yards on offense while limiting the Gophers to 162 yards on defense. They now have to travel to Illinois for a tough road test.
2. Oregon (5-0, 2-0)
Last Week's Result: Idle
Last Week's Ranking: #2
The Ducks were off last week, which gave them plenty of time to prepare to host No.7 Indiana at home. This should be a fun one.
3. Indiana (5-0, 2-0)
Last Week's Result: Idle
Last Week's Ranking: #3
The Hoosiers will travel to Eugene as seven-point underdogs after having a week off.
4. Michigan (4-1, 2-0)
Last Week's Result: Michigan 24, Wisconsin 10
Last Week's Ranking: #5
It wasn’t the prettiest game for the Wolverines, but they got the job done against a reeling Wisconsin team. Bryce Underwood completed 19 of 28 passes for a season-high 270 yards.
5. Illinois (5-1, 2-1)
Last Week's Result: Illinois 43, Purdue 27
Last Week's Ranking: #6
Luke Altmyer threw for a career-high 390 yards; 186 of those yards went to Hank Beatty. Illinois scores 27 points in the second quarter to pull away from Purdue.
6. Washington (4-1, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Washington 24, Maryland 20
Last Week's Ranking: #8
After being down 20-0 in the middle of the third quarter, the Huskies would storm back and score 24 straight to hand Maryland their first loss of the season.
7. Nebraska (4-1, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Nebraska 38, Michigan State 27
Last Week's Ranking: #10
The Huskers force three turnovers and block a punt over Michigan State. Emmett Johnson averaged 6.4 yards per carry and had three touchdowns.
8. USC (4-1, 2-1)
Last Week's Result: Idle
Last Week's Ranking: #7
The Trojans were idle last week and will host No. 20 Michigan this week.
9. Penn State (3-2, 0-2)
Last Week's Result: Penn State 37, UCLA 42
Last Week's Ranking: #4
The Nittany Lions were 24.5-point favorites against the Bruins. The Nittany Lions' defense gave up 446 total yards in a stunning loss.
10. Iowa (3-2, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Idle
Last Week's Ranking: #9
The Hawkeyes had the week off; now they travel to Madison to play the rival Wisconsin Badgers.
11. Minnesota (3-2, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Minnesota 3, Ohio State 42
Last Week's Ranking: #11
The Gophers became the first team this season to score on the Buckeyes on the opening drive, but not much went right after that.
12. Rutgers (3-2, 0-2)
Last Week's Result: Idle
Last Week's Ranking: #14
The Scarlet Knights will head west to Washington, looking for their first Big Ten win.
13. Maryland (4-1, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Maryland 20, Washington 24
Last Week's Ranking: #12
The Terrapins had a 20-3 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Washington scored 21 unanswered points to steal a victory. They will now host a hungry Nebraska team.
14. UCLA (1-4, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: UCLA 42, Penn State 37
Last Week's Ranking: #18
Not only were the Bruins winless, but they never had a lead in their first four games. That didn’t stop them from pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the year. A win over Penn State snaps a 16-game skid against Top-10 teams.
15. Michigan State (3-2, 0-2)
Last Week's Result: Michigan State 27, Nebraska 38
Last Week's Ranking: #13
Aidan Chiles tossed 85 yards in the air, going 9 for 23; he also threw two interceptions. He was more effective rushing the ball, gaining 58 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Not the cleanest of games for the Spartans as they fall to Nebraska.
16. Purdue (2-3, 0-2)
Last Week's Result: Purdue 27, Illinois 43
Last Week's Ranking: #15
The Boilermakers lose their third game in a row. QB Ryan Browne went 30 of 50 with 302 yards and one TD. He also scored on the ground. While the offense appears to be finding its groove, the defense continues to struggle in preventing big plays.
17. Wisconsin (2-3, 0-2)
Last Week's Result: Wisconsin 10, Michigan 24
Last Week's Ranking: #16
With the loss, Fickell is now 15-16 overall at Wisconsin and 0-8 against AP Top 25 teams. The schedule doesn’t give them any breaks as they will now host rival Iowa.
18. Northwestern (3-2, 1-1)
Last Week's Result: Northwestern 42, UL Monroe 7
Last Week's Ranking: #17
It’s tough to put the Wildcats at the bottom after their victory against Louisiana-Monroe. They now head to Penn State to take on the struggling Nittany Lions.
