... look our if they need to stop a run though.Best bet is to sub in some speed guys is 3rd down situations and hope Kill can reel in a few recruits for the coming years.
I can see it. But of course, this is Crazy Joe, so no offense man, I'll hold any further thoughts until this is confirmed elsewhere LOL
I like our base 4-3 on run downs...but on pass downs, I always preferred the 3-4, especially if you don't have dominant ends....more options for zone blitz because you have more speed guys on the field close to the line...if our corners can press cover 1 on 1..even better because we can move the FS up to the line as well and be a 3-5 with 5 speed guys...tough to complete a pass from you butt...as my coach always used to say.
Can we as a group try not to overreact to where one player plays on one day of practice? This is a coaching staff that is just getting to know their players and learn what they are good at. Of course they are going to move people around and experiment so that they can figure out what works and what doesn't. If Tinsley is playing there in the fall then we might be on to something but if we're going to do this with every player that tries a new position or side of the ball in spring practice the board is going to be a mess all spring.
My first thought when I read this was Brendan Beal.
True. But it is nice to know how they're going about practice, and trying Tinsley out at DE is the kind of news that helps reveal it.
I don't get my info from practices.
Hey Crazy, was wondering which one of these coaches was in charge of the decision to move Tinsley to DE?
Fedora, Riley, Calhoun, Schiano and Hoke
That list of five was the one you provided and GUARANTEED our new head coach would come from.
So, just exactly where do you get your info?

Tinsley had a hamstring injury that prevented him from taking part in practice until recently. My gut is Tinsley will be substituted in often for both Rallis and Beal. I would expect Grant to play a lot in the middle.Tinsley hasn't been practicing much, if any, at DE.
He -- and also Beal, to a lesser degree -- have mostly been at backup LB lately.
Hey, Whooda thunk it?
Florida LB guys on the pine (which is not certain yet).
Local LB Minnesotans in the starting line-up...Ryan Grant in the middle and Mike Rallis on the outside.

Tinsley will play, he is the best defensive player they have. Without him it is going to be a long season.
Actually, Tinsley has been getting quite a bit of work running with the 2nd and 3rd LB units.
When the whistle blows this fall, you might be surprised (shocked?) at who is playing (and at what positions) and who is standing next to Jerry Kill on the sideline.
