There are 75 Power 6 (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big XII, Pac 12, SEC) programs. Using Pitino's arrival as a starting point, here are the Power 6 opponents each school has scheduled the last two seasons. Exempt neutral-site tournament games (i.e. Gophers vs. Saint John's, then Georgia/Gonzaga) are excluded. We'll start with the Big Ten, then go ACC, Big East, Big XII, Pac 12, and SEC.

So the OSU-ND game from last year ... ? I don't understand why to exclude the neutral site games, especially the ones where they have them on the schedule and you know they are going to play no matter what.

Nope, not counting that one. Pre-arranged, yes, but still part of an exempt round-robin event and on a neutral court.

I guess I don't understand the point in totally excluding tournament games, from last year at least since you know for a fact who plays who. They are a big part of the nonconference schedule for many programs, and I think can help provide some separation in the schools in terms of the analysis of how deep their nonconference schedules are. Yes, there is some luck involved in who you play in those tournaments, the quality of the teams and the conferences they play in as well, but at the same time some of these schools might be missing up to 6 games between these two seasons. I can understand why it isn't fair necessarily to include this upcoming season since you don't know who exactly will play who ... last year is more curious. But thanks for putting this together.

I think you're missing the point of my post, though in fairness I didn't make it very clear. Sorry about that.

The point is, this is a look at who & how many opponents Power 6 programs are scheduling outside of their exempt tournaments. This is another area where I think the Gopher program has fallen short. It's certainly not an issue with your program.
