- I thought the announcing was horrible. Was that two Hawkeye fans in the booth? "Iowa is letting them hang in" etc. Their was no letting anyone "hang in" in that game.
- Weber was atrocious. While you can argue that some of his passes should have been caught, how many of them were right on the money? His field awareness was awful as well. I don't know who to blame the center/qb exchange on, but there was no excuse for Weber's intentional grounding on a screen pass or for his subsequent fumble on the following play. What's scary is neither of those was his worst play of the game. How do you not throw the ball in the end zone on 4th and goal? He put his head down and ran right in to the line.
- The Oline killed us. We had 2nd and 2 on one drive and preceded to run up the middle 3 times failing to get the required 2 yards. Yes, there was a horrible spot on 4th down, but I still think they were short anyways. The one first and goal from the 2, the Oline can't get us 2 yards on 2 tries up the middle. Just another embarrassing performance from them.
- WR injuries- When McKnight went down, that was the ball game. We can't play without Decker, Green, and McKnight. We're not left with a WR with any size in that scenario.
- Jedd Fisch- A terrible game from Mr. Fisch, especially the slot reverse pass call that resulted in an interception. I don't have a problem with a trick play, but did you see where Gray threw that ball? If we're going to throw off a reverse, it should be 30 plus yards down the field, not 10-12 yards. I hated this play when Weber ran it earlier in the year too...too much risk, not nearly enough reward.
-Defense- It should not go unnoticed that the defense was dominating today. Everyone across the board played well, but especially Ryan Collado and Gary Tinsley. I was especially happy to see Tinsley play well because we need LB's next year. I wish this defense would have shown up all year long, we would probably have a couple more wins. The one thing that stood out that had nothing to do with a freshman QB, was the FIRST guy to the ball was actually making the tackle today.
I am beyond tired of losing to Iowa, and this was a game the Gophers could have, perhaps should have won. It's too bad that our redshirt Junior QB looked no more poised and was no more accurate than their redshirt Freshman QB.
