i just don't find any evidence that our staff are good game day coaches. They have a lot of positive attributes but the ineptitude coming out of the gate is astounding. Fix it, Jerry. Also, right now I think the opposition has Claeys number a little he's losing most of the chess games out there right now.

If you went by the season stats, Illinois would be a very easy team to run against, which is apparently what Limegrover thought. But that's discounting emotion (which can translate into energy), which was bound to be high on a Red Grange homecoming, the coach on the hot seat, etc. Since Leidner is no Peyton Manning, they would probably load the box, and you'd have to pass early, mix up your plays, do something different. Limegrover didn't, and wasted an entire half.

Agreed. Limegrover is more to blame than Claeys. The offense way under performed against a team that has been gashed all season.

The defense had no idea what Illinois was going to do today which isn't Claeys fault, its a product of Illinois having the bye week and personnel problems due to injury. The D only gave up 21 points and played pretty well. I would have liked to of seen a couple block in the backs called on both their first 2 TD drives. The announcers kept saying "wow O'toole really makes some nice moves to make guys miss in the hole" when really they should have been saying "wow that block in the back really opened that hole up for O'Toole".

The way they were gashing us early on I don't know that it would have mattered but yes, the multiple holds on the TD play were something to behold. With that many officials on the field I would guess one of them Would have been looking for shenanigans like that but I'd be wrong. Whatever, goes both ways I suppose.nni hear bjorklund had a hold on one of Cobb's runs.

Yeah i thought the PI in the endzone to set us up was a nice make up call. Not to turn this into a bashing the ref's thread but seriously over the last 4 games the refs have been VERY bad. Again today they blew a play dead on a fumble they should have let play on which would have resulted in a TD for us. They really need to start letting those plays happen to the end then when they review it its easy to go back and say he didn't fumble but they can't go back and say the defensive guy who recovered the fumble "would have scored".

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I have been watching this happen all season long now (and not just against us), with teams losing easy scores because of it, and it always drives me nuts. Note to the refs: on plays which may be possible turnovers and thus are going to be automatically looked at and reviewed anyway, let it play out! Let the play carry on to its end, let the people in the booth determine what actually happened, and then if a defensive score needs to be wiped off the board because the ball wasn't actually turned over, no harm, no foul. Damn, it's not complicated.

According to the MN media, Claeys is going to be the HC of Kansas next year and Kill is going to be HC of Michigan. So we don't need to to worry about it.

You're on a roll Indi. You have started a number of threads rehashing what has already been said in multiple other ones. Other than a 12-0 record with a Heisman QB, what would make you happy?

I definately could have consolidated my posts. I would be happy with better QB play I'm befuddled by some of the inaccuracy issues we have seen the past two years and question coach Z and whether he's getting the best out of the limited options he has. I think Limegrover isn't very talented and since it would take an act of God for him to go I'll be left to complain on here from time-to-time. I'd also like Jerry to get the kids ready to play out of the gate better and maybe score a TD on our first drive more than once in four years. I think that's about it.

Well when we fire Jerry Kill this year I hope you apply for the job. It's obvious you have all the answers and I would support your candidacy 100%. Could you just give the board a little background info such as your coaching record? Be sure to include wins and losses at the FBS level. How many programs you have turned around?

Absolutely correct. Nothing else will pacify the complainers. Come to think of it, that won't either, because then they would start whining about the margins of victory or the total yards offense or ...

This is true. The curse of being a fan of any team is that you always need more success. Winning 8 games is no longer enough. We need to win 9 games or the Big Ten championship. We need that bigger hit to get the same high. It's like heroin. We have a whole lot of heroin junkies in the gopherhole. Time for rehab.
