"Verdell Jones sure made right choice picking Indiana over Gophers three years ago. Last-second win against No. 1 Kentucky was unbelievable."

Verdell would have been in the NCAA tournament 2 of the last 3 years if he was at Minnesota. Verdell shot 2 of 7 from the field and had 5 turnovers to 3 assists today. Yes, Marcus, that one game is surely shows that Verdell made the right choice. The best argument (so far) for Verdell to choose Indiana would be that he likely would have been stuck at the back end of the Gophers guard rotation until his junior year.

I saw that tweet. Thought it was ridiculous as well.

anyone that reads Marcus' tweets knows that is probably one of the smartest tweets he has had. the guy needs to have an editor for his tweets as he makes himself sound really stupid pretty regularly.

In the 3+ years Jones has played at Indiana, they have gone 38-66 and 8-46 in conference play. Minnesota 70-40 and 24-30 in BT play in that same period.

Actually, I think had Jones come to Minnesota, he'd likely have been in 3 NCAA tourneys already. Jones on this team last year would have mitigated Nolen's injury and Joseph's transfer and we probably would have been in the tourney.

Also, while beating the #1 team in the country is a really cool thing, we've beaten 5 top 10 teams in the last three seasons.

2010-11
#8 North Carolina
#8 Purdue

2009-10
#10 Butler
#6 Purdue

2008-09
#9 Louisville

And that's not counting a win over an unranked Ohio State team that made it to the top 5 later in the season in 2010, or #11 Michigan State in the Big Ten tournament that same year. That year we had gotten wins over all 3 of the teams that split the Big Ten title. That said, we went 1-2 against all three of them, but that's still better than Indiana.

Minn or Ind

What stinks is that 2 of Indiana's 8 wins in those 3 yrs have been against Minnesota. Yuck.

That image of Jones sticking his tongue out after EVERY SINGLE made basket against us a couple years ago is still burned into my head. Nice to see him tightlipped all night tonight.

Yeah, I won't soon forget that either, especially the one where he drew a bunk foul call in crunch time. With all the talent Crean's brought in now, VJIII is becoming an afterthought on offense.

What's sad is that the Verdell Jones tweet is more the rule than the exception when it comes to Marcus Fuller's Twitter account. I honestly can not take him seriously as a beat writer anymore after reading so many tweets that left me hoping (for his sake) that someone had hacked his account.

Karma is also a b*&#h for when their fans stormed the court after that game. Not to mention Crean parading around the place like they had won a national championship.

Agreed. Here's his gem from a blog yesterday. Too much opinion for a beat writer. He's making the memory of Myron P Metcalf seem good:

Beating Indiana on Thursday isn’t going to happen. That goes without saying. It would be a moral victory to keep from being blown out by more than 15 points.
