It was a disappointing end to what was otherwise a positive season for the Gophers, who finished with eight wins for the second consecutive year. Leading up to the Citrus Bowl, Minnesota talked plenty about the importance of beating Missouri after losing their bowl games in each of the last two seasons. Ultimately, though, the Gophers' bowl game drought has now reached seven games, as Minnesota hasn't won a postseason game since the Music City Bowl in 2004. Turnovers -- three fumbles -- were costly for the Gophers, who knew they likely had to win the turnover battle to beat a tough Missouri squad. After the game, Minnesota's seniors talked about the state of the program now compared to four years ago when they arrived. Jerry Kill has continued to move the team forward in four seasons, and playing on New Year's Day was a sign of progress. Winning the bowl game would have been another big step forward, but it wasn't meant to be for Minnesota.

Go Gophers!!

The worst thing about losing the bowl game is that the Kill vs. Mason debate lives on for at least another year.

B+.

I picked the Gophers for 6W's with 7W's the ceiling and a minor bowl.

B+ Beating Nebraska, Iowa and Michigan, hanging tough with Wisconsin and Ohio St and Playing in a New Years Day Bowl. don't understand the C grades, sounds like you expected them to go 10-2 or something. My guess is that is the grading had taken place on Dec 31, lots of A's and B's. they improved, won some games people didn't think they would and yes, they still have room for improvement. They have to figure out how to win a bowl. they need to play well in all areas in the same game, but I like how they have gotten better each.

If I'm understanding this thread right, I think the grades are for the performance in the bowl game not overall season grades. We already had a thread about grading performance for the season, I gave us a B. As for the bowl game, I'm going to say C, but with all of the unforced and mental mistakes, I feel I'm being generous.
