"I think the sky's the limit," first-year Gophers coach Richard Pitino said of Hollins. "He just keeps getting better. I said it the other day, he's a consummate pro. That's the way he approaches this game. I think he's going to be very good for us."

As far as consistency goes, the Gophers would be hard-pressed to find a player who gave the same consistent effort through the season last year more than Austin Hollins.

"(He'll) take an even bigger step forward," said Andre Hollins. "It's his last year. He's going to leave it all out there, even more so because it's his last year. He's been doing that ever since his freshman year. It's great to see the progression."

Go Gophers!!

Nice! This is his final shot to prove he deserves to get drafted. If steps up to the plate this season, I could see him being a top 40 draft pick.

I've always enjoyed watching Austin and how hard he plays. We are gonna miss him a lot next year, especially on defense. It would be cool to see him make the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd All Big Ten Team. Go Gophers!

He's such a great all around player that I think he makes the NBA whether it's through the draft or another avenue.

His D is very underrated. If he's not All Big Ten D this year, it will simply be because these things are popularity contests. I think he's in for a huge year - he should thrive in this style of play.

Yep. It's shameful how under-appreciated under-mentioned he is. Yet another reason why lists by media, including awards, are largely meaningless: you're spot on - popularity contest.

I trust Pitino knows what he has and I think many Gopher fans do. But Austin is worthy of more praise from "outsiders". Fortunately I don't think he's the type that is going to be overly bothered by not getting the shine that some others in the Big Ten and country do. Businessman. Type of player and kid that programs dream about. Looking forward to watching him again this season.

Damian Johnson was another player who never truly got the recognition he deserved. I'm not saying that Kramer (Purdue fella) wasn't good on D, but that's all you heard about. It was ridiculous. And half of the reason he was good was because he mugged guys. I think Craft falls in that category too. Announcers, etc. act like there aren't any other good defensive players in the league.

Amen GW.

All substance in his game, without the flash & dash. That's refreshing. It's easy to see his father's influence, that he was brought up around the game.

I agree that he is largely underrated, but he needs to be more consistent shooting the ball too. His shooting drought in the second half of the season was definitely a contributing factor to their offensive inconsistency. (obviously a player they relied upon to score)

Austin has been my favorite player for a few years now. He just goes out and plays hard.

Same here, love his game. The versatility, the smoothness, always bringing good effort. His shot can betray him at times, but I think this year even that will become more consistent and he'll show his full complete game. Hopefully that leads to being drafted.

It's too bad his stock fell so far because of that bad shooting funk.

Hopefully he can have a solid shooting season. Imo, he has a place in the NBA. A solid role player that can defend and shoot some.

I like Austin Hollins a lot, but currently, he's not an NBA player. He needs to have a big year to be an NBA player.

If Kevin Burleson landed on the end of an NBA bench for a year or two, anything is possible.
