University of Minnesota Athletics officials announce several changes to the Gophers' future non-conference football schedules today.

Athletics officials have reached an agreement with the Minnesota State Fair that will see the Gophers open the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 football seasons at TCF Bank Stadium on the Thursday night before Labor Day. The games were originally scheduled to take place on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Minnesota will now host UNLV on Thursday, August 29, 2012, Eastern Illinois on Thursday, August 28, 2014, South Dakota State on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, and New Mexico State on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

Gopher athletics also announced today that the University of Minnesota and University of North Carolina football programs have cancelled their two-game, home-and-home series scheduled for the 2013 (at UNC) and 2014 (at TCF Bank Stadium) seasons. Minnesota is currently working to secure opponents for those dates.

Two other future opponents were also confirmed today. Minnesota has added Kent State to its 2015 schedule and will host the Golden Flashes on Sept. 19, 2015, while South Dakota State is scheduled to visit TCF Bank Stadium on August 29, 2019.

Those are some brutal home openers, but glad to see they'll be consistent. If nothing else it'll be somewhat of a tradition by 2016.
 

this is embarrassing... i hope they add something that gets people excited about the NC slate.
 

What a joke! I was expecting much more from Kill and Teague.
 

I'm probably in the minority here, but I want to add NDSU in our spot that just opened. I know too many people from Fargo, and I just need to crush them. Just shut them up for good.

No benefit to playing NDSU.
 


I'd like to see them renew the rivalry with Iowa State.
 

Scratch that, NDSU is probably too high class of an opponent for Kill. I hear hennepin tech is putting together a football team.
 






If I were the U I wouldn't have even released that "news". The list of schools on in that press release won't excite anyone.

so if you potentially lose (playing against a team living to beat you since the kids all got skipped on by the Gophers) you look like a total a$$ hat for scheduling them? ya i'll pass.
