Ouch! That was a mean-spirited article. Maybe that author is having withdrawals from the football season.
weber is not popular with Illinois fans at all. I have a very good friend who is a loyal Illini fan and among the best people I know. Just a great guy. He can't stand Weber. He says he just wants to tell him to sit down and let them play.
Going from Self, the big, good looking, self-confident, cool guy, to a guy who is kind of nerdy like Wacker is tough to overcome.
The 'dead man walking' quote was pretty mean spirited under the circumstances. I have never understood people who enjoy humiliating nice folks when they are struggling. The journalist "bullies" of the world are pathetic.
However, as far as running a BigTen program goes, I don't get a team made up of nobody that can supply muscle under the boards. Does not work, and never will in this conference. Having a seven-footer who can make three point shots is not that great if there is no one in there to rebound.
