Looking at rivalry

While there were several seasons in which the Gophers, under Jerry Kill, felt like they were going to beat Wisconsin, Stave never let it happen.

"We got a pretty good streak going against the Gophers," he said. "It's a product of being a very consistent program and I think we have done that over the last 15 years or so, and that's really shown."

The Badgers have won the past 12 meetings with the Gophers and 19 of 21.

Stave described what it's like to prepare for the rivalry from the opposing side.

"You know it's going to be tough," Stave said. "Minnesota is always a good team and the past couple years they played us close every year, but we just find a way to win. But we never take it for granted, that's for sure. We know they want to win that game just as bad as we do, so we prepare and work hard for it and make sure we're ready."

Are you kidding me....He looks like Prince Valiant. Also reminds me of Prince Valium in the movie Spaceballs. He'll probably end up playing Arena football. The guy is not durable enough.

If, for some reason, Stave gets into a game with the Vikes and does something to help the Vikes win, he'll be a hero for a significant segment of the MN sports fandom. And, considering that Shaun Hill has the mobility of a statue, I wouldn't be shocked if Stave did wind up playing at some point this season.

It seemed like he was trying to be classy in the interview. How else is he supposed to answer those questions? He is a good story. Walk-on to starter (best us 4 times) with most wins in school history. Then a chance to make and NFL career. He is a Viking so if you are a Viking fan then he is one of your guys.

Yup, he's not wrong, and was good about it.

Stave is a bright guy, engineer major and wins games.
Not the greatest talent and also not very mobile but he wins games..
