I didn't realize Wilson was named the interim-HC with Flood's suspension. For those that don't remember, Wilson was a Gopher captain in the late 80s for the Gophers and had an assistant job with us for a few years as well. He was casually mentioned as a potential replacement when Mason was fired, as Wilson was the HC at Columbia.

Here's some background on the former Gopher:

Go Gophers!!

Norris Wilson: Gopher Captain 2-Yr Starter 3-Yr Letterman Facing Tough Job

A 1989 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Wilson was a captain, two-year starter and three-year letterwinner for the Gophers. He also earned two letters in wrestling, and qualified for the NCAA Championships as a heavyweight. Now he's got a REAL tough job. He's Rutger's interim Head Coach while Kyle Flood is on suspension. Hope Wison does well enough to take that "interim" off, but he's looking at a very tough job and got off to a bad start.

Interim coach Norries Wilson declined to say just how the arrests and suspensions – “distractions” – have made an impact on the team. And even Rutgers’ players seemed split on how to answer the media. Some said Flood’s absence wasn’t strange at all; others admitted it was odd. Some said all the news lately hasn’t affected the Knights; others acknowledged the absence of some starters hurt.

Call it sincerity or denial, loyalty or ignorance. Whatever you call it, Rutgers’ players said they’re moving on. They don’t have any other choice."
