The Steelers have retained a familiar face on offense, agreeing to a two-year deal with reserve tight end Matt Spaeth. The club announced the pact Monday.

The 31-year-old Spaeth has played 6-of-8 seasons with the Steelers, with a two-year stint in Chicago (2011-2012) sandwiched between his first tour with the club (2007-2010) and his latest run with the team, which began in 2013.

“I think of Pittsburgh as home now,” Spaeth told the club’s website in a story published Monday.

Spaeth (6-7, 260) appeared in 15 games for Pittsburgh a season ago, catching three passes for 46 yards. He is known primarily for his blocking.

That is great. He is a tough guy, hope he enjoys the rest of his career.

Congrats, Matt. You have done Gopherland proud.

Matt has earned over 9 million the last 8 years. New contract is 2 years, 2.2 million with a "small" signing bonus, $130k or so.

Nice little career.
