Former Gopher Laurence Maroney headed to Denver

Dang...I already had him in fantasy, and I also have Moreno.

This is kind of a strange move. Moreno is the obvious #1 and Buckhalter seems like a fully capable #2.

I was trying to decide whether to pick him up in fantasy, and I'm really not sure why Denver would want him.

Not sure I understand that one for Denver. Then again, I don't understand most things Skippy McDaniel does. I miss Shanhan. So far this year they've gone through LenDale White, Justin Fargas, L. Ball and now Maroney, and all of this simply to back-up Moreno and Buckhalter both of whom looked healthy on Sunday. I shudder to click and find out what Bellicheck duped out of his boy in return.

Maroney and a 6th round pick in 2011 went to Denver for the Broncos 4th round pick in 2011.

Maroney's playing for a contract. Gonna be tough to get paid if he can't get carries or stay healthy.

Does Denver still employ the zone blocking scheme? If you will recall, he did pretty well with that here. Wish him the best.

This is not a good trade for the Patriots. Maroney represents their best chance for a consistent running game this year. Fred Taylor is 34 years old and Sammy Morris is a change of pace bruiser who is also over 30.

Maroney fell out of favor with a couple of goal line fumbles last year and was hurt most of training camp (reportedly). That said, he was clearly the Patriots best back last year and I think he'll do better behind a better run blocking line.

Yeah, he got into a dog house and it was pretty much all over for the Patriots. This move doesn't make the most sense for either team (IMO).

Probably could have gotten more if they traded him to the Packers now that Grant is out. I could see him doing well in GB.

Wow.. Was wondering what happened to him when I was watching the Pats v. Cincy this last Sunday. Poor guy, deserves better than that.

But then again, Bellicheat never runs the ball anyway.

No they ditched that along with anything else that had traces of the Shanhan era attached to it. The Broncos offense is now the Patriots offense with less talented players. As you can imagine, it's not so great that way.
